Choosing a Plan
We thank you for considering QD Plans to be a part of your new construction project! Please read the following to get some ideas to maximize your home plan search.
Step 1: Determine Requirements
The first critical step is finding a lot. We strongly encourage anyone considering new construction to choose a lot before getting started on plans. There are numerous examples we have of customers falling in love with a plan, finding a great lot, only to find their dream plan won’t fit on that lot. It is the proverbial cart before the horse.
There is an exclusion to this clause. That is if there are a couple different lots that show promise, a basic plan search can be done to see what kind of layout best fits the lot. All things being equal, if the choice of lots has been narrowed to two, and one plan is preferred over another that should make the decision on lots. BUT in almost every case it is a pointless search and waste of time to search aimlessly through the thousands of plans floating around.
Step 2: Browse Plans for Matches
Once the lot choices are narrowed, it is now time to begin the plan search. Starting with square footages and lot size is typically the most efficient.
Even with all the plans available out there, we find that some customers require personalization. We appreciate the opportunity to assist in the customized approach. Our creative, trained staff can walk thru different options for customization.
